Andrea Preisler – HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator and Clinical Hypnotist – Tampa FL
After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of South Florida in 2002 she trained at The University of Integrative Psychology at the Orange County, California campus and became certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy. As a practicing yogi, open to meditation and mindfulness but a skeptic to hypnosis at first, she quickly fell in love with not only the training but the ease and empowerment she felt self-hypnosis gave her in taking charge of her own behaviors, self-talk, self-esteem and advancement in personal enlightenment. She was told by teachers and those she first worked with she had a palpable compassionate energy and knack for the type of intuitive listening required for this work and she knew it was her duty to share these life enhancing tools with others.
To begin this journey, Andrea opened a private practice in St. Petersburg, Florida and joined professional organizations such as the National Guild of Hypnotists and International Association for Counselors & Therapists. She also deepened her practice by becoming certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), a technique that involves altering thought patterns to affect positive behavior-change through a variety of different processes. She found that her clients enjoyed relief in knowing they didn’t have to re-experience emotionally painful events yet they could experience profound, positive change in their behavior in a very short time with these techniques that she still uses in her private practice today.
While noticing a multitude of positive changes in her own behavior and in the lives of the hundreds she worked with using these life-changing techniques, her client base broadened. Andrea began receiving numerous referrals from physicians, LMHC’s and LCSW’s to work with their clients on a variety of self-improvement issues from stopping smoking or overeating to other psychosomatic conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS.
In 2007 she became pregnant, and as a hypnotist, she knew she would want to labor and birth using all natural birthing techniques and self-hypnosis so she became certified in HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method and had the honor of being trained by the author, and program creator Marie Mongan. Although during this pregnancy Andrea ended up experiencing a miscarriage at 10 weeks, she knew she was meant to receive this training at this time and use the Mongan Method of HypnoBirthing ® along with her expertise in hypnosis and NLP to help others have a more comfortable and rewarding labor and birth experience.
To continue her journey of self-healing from within and to be able to work efficiently with others struggling with fertility issues, in 2008, Andrea went to Denver, Colorado to train in the Mind-Body Fertility Connection technique by James Schwartz and then in HypnoFertility ® by the HypnoBirthing ® organization. She has since helped numerous couples conceive with and without the help of assistive reproductive technology and in 2015 became pregnant with her first son naturally and gave birth using the same HypnoBirthing® techniques she has been teaching for the past 10 years!
Andrea believes that we are all born with the natural abilities to help ourselves but sometimes we need help to simply remember how to do that. She feels that there is always more to learn in life and she will never stop learning to support her efforts in helping others. She is now in her clinical internship at a psychiatric hospital where she enjoys using breath work and meditation as she works with those diagnosed with varying mental health diagnoses as she is in her last two semesters of completing her Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University.
